Upcoming Events & Residencies:
Each handmade work is paired with a multilayered piece based on the painting or monoprint. Taj Baker’s show invites viewers to approach these pairings with curiosity and playfulness: to trace visual connections, discover surprising departures, and practice seeing in new ways.
Gallery hours: Wednesdays and Saturdays 10am to 3pm; other days/hours vary.
Art playshops offered during the show.
Leave the planning and transportation to us as 360 XQMX will act as your local guide and sketch concierge. It will be an Uban Sketcher's dream as this residency will include morning and evening sketching sessions, participation with the Ajijic Sketchers, happy hour sketching at local venues, excursions to a foundry, vineyard and Japanese gardens... and so much more. Timing of this residency creates opportunities for you to experience a local balloon festival and one of Mexico's celebrated holidays, Independence Day. Wake up every day in the charming community of Ajijic, grab your art materials and be prepared to explore the local region, capturing all of the color and texture in your notebook.
Creative Writing WORKSHOP and RETREAT!
Our physical bodies, our spirits, lived experiences and our minds are treasure troves holding vast amounts of information and knowledge. In this four-day workshop we will explore new ways of mining the personal for poetry, memoir and mixed-form writing. In addition to my own work, we will survey and read together writers such as Robin Coste Lewis, June Jordan, Ocean Vuong, Dionne Brand, Layli Long soldier and more.
Join 360 XQMX for this exciting residency full of color and festivities. You will experience all of the glory and drama of Dia de Muertos. You can't imagine the color and the level of celebrations. There will be night excursions and day excursions and don't forget to bring your cameras or sketch books to capture every moment. Parades, exploring local towns with decorations, getting our faces painted like catrinas and watching the local kids loving trick-or-treating is just the beginning.
Escape the cold weather and dark skies of Iceland. Join us in charming Ajijic, Jalisco for three weeks of blue skies, warm sunlight and creative inspiration. Use this time to focus on your individual work, and then treat yourself with time to explore and get acquainted with our village. As the rainy season will have ended, the mountains will be green and lush and the plant and trees will be colorful and flowering. Centrally located in this vast community of creatives, you will experience friendly people, a welcoming artist scene, delicious food, galleries & studios, fabulous shopping ... and plenty of time to focus on your chosen medium.

“I would encourage all my artist friends to spend some time in this wonderful town, and above all- stay with Bethany. She knows the town like the back of her hand.”
