"Níl Brón Orm" or “I’m Not Sorry”
For our first art exhibition of 2025, 360 XQMX is proud to announce that Irish Artist PiGSY will be showing his artworks created in Mexico in his latest show titled Níl Brón Orm which translates from the Irish language of Gaeilge in to English as I'm Not Sorry. PIGSY's exhibition will open on January 25th at 5pm - 7.30pm on Constitución 98, Ajijic.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Ciarán McCoy - known by his artistic alter ego PIGSY - creates work that contrasts the disciplined structure of his architectural training with gestural, raw and intuitive creativity. He uses his art as a diverging deconstruction process, delving into the human psyche, confronting beasts gnawing at the back of his mind in an attempt to repair inner scars. PIGSY arrived to Mexico from Spain in September of 2024 and while travelling to different parts of Mexico he has been painting a series of artworks examining the topic of "Sorry".
The "Sorry Series" of artworks by PIGSY will be exhibited in the unique rooftop setting of 360XQMX which has a large mirador that 360 XQMX Director Bethany Anne Putnam says "PIGSY paints large scale artworks that he creates in a fast gestural spray paint technique that gives his paintings a street-art aesthetic, aligning with themes of immediacy, rebellion and deconstruction. The artworks were painted in one of the outdoor studios. by PIGSY. here at the 360XQMX headquARTers, so it very much makes sense to exhibit them in the outdoors. And our large mirador (rooftop) with mountain and lake views is the perfect setting to do this, with the blue sky of Ajijic providing an intense backdrop for PIGSY's work". Putnam goes on to further explain that PIGSY has been Artist in Residence with 360 XQMX since December and the works he will exhibit in January will be the culmination of his 360 XQMX artist residency in Ajijic, with the artist returning to Spain after the solo exhibition.
The works that will be presented in the exhibition reflect the unpredictable and unrefined nature of the emotional scars created by the habitual, and often unnecessary, use of the word "Sorry". PIGSY states that "the rawness of the works and chaotic presentation parallel the vulnerability and fragility inherent in over-apologizing (which many of us tend to do), suggesting that these wounds are not always neatly contained or resolved."
Through his background research (which consisted of interviews with psychologists, writers, poets and color therapists), PIGSY provokes a deeper understanding of the emotional weight and consequences of saying sorry without authenticity or necessity. Viewers are invited to consider how this habit impacts their own lives, relationships, and sense of self-worth. The display also encourages the audience to see the humanity in these raw emotional experiences and to critically question the role of habitual apologies in everyday interactions.
