Jessica Orfe
Jessica is an artist who identifies with nomadicism, & subsequently ephemera. She began drawing at a young age, inspired by nature, wildlife, phenomena, and a desire to understand those things. Various moves and relocations encouraged her to learn & make sense of new environments - with things like sketching and mapping (mentally, on foot), finding patterns and similarities in plant forms or animals or dreams connects individuals to an interwoven 'bigger picture.' Her work is versatile in medium and scale, ranging from small sketches to traditional paintings, designs, book illustrations, or murals. In addition to her independent practice, she has been an educator, & active with groups – HWS, AHA, GNSI and SCBWI - in exhibits & projects. Her formal studies include a BA (2006, University of Chicago), a PBC (2009, School of the Art Institute of Chicago), and an MFA in Painting and Drawing (2013, University of Hawaii at Manoa).
